Thirteen Things I Like About Blogging

Thirteen Things from momhuebert

I discovered blogging two or three months ago, and found I really enjoy it. Here is my list of thirteen reasons why.

Thirteen reasons I like blogging

1. It saves me money. The time I used to spend browsing ebay and Amazon I now spend writing blog posts and browsing other blogs.

2. It gives me an excuse to play on my cool laptop.

3. It gives me an audience to write for-- a small one, admittedly, at this point, but an audience nevertheless.

4. Knowing I'm writing for others to read helps me to find the "story" in my every day life, instead of just putting down a stream of consciousness diary entry.

5. It offers the opportunity for me to share what I've learned with others. I can leave learned (ha) or sympathetic comments or entire posts.

6. It introduces me to lots of nice people.

7. It helps me see that I'm not alone-- other people feel the same way I do.

8. It gives me a broader perspective-- helps me understand the people who don't think like I do.

9. It lets me interact with kinds of people that I never cross paths with in my "real" life; like university professors, or published authors, or sophisticated city people.

10. It opens my world to vicariously experience new things, like vacation destinations, or other people's family lives.

11. I've learned new, interesting, and sometimes humorous, things; for example, diseases I've never heard of before, or what it's like to get acupuncture, or how badly some people can embarrass themselves.

12. It's a way to share with my friends what's going on with me. Living in a rural area, my friends are scattered far and wide. Now they can check up on me.... at least, I hope they're checking in.

13. It's a platform for my opinions; the one place I can say what I think. And no one can really argue, 'cause it's MY blog!

I totally agree with all your reasons for loving to blog...especially number 6...I have developed relationships from blogging that have spilled over into my real life that are very important to me.

Oh, and I also really appreciate #3. How fun is it to write for an audience?! Even if it is small...:)

These are all reasons why I blog. And I admit to being addicted to comments. I would be much better at writing in my journal if my journal could write back saying, "Aw, I'm sorry your day was so tough." Or, "Wow, I love what you do!"

You've given some great reasons for having a blog. I like having an opportunity to express myself and it's a wonderful way to meet some nice people!!! Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comment on my post about not playing the coupon game.

I love your list The one thing I love about blogging is getting to know all these people I am sure I probably would have never met had I not had a blog

carrie-- you caught me: I posted my thursday thirteen on Wednesday night and dated it Thursday, 'cause I wasn't going to have time to post it this morning. I could have just left it as Wednesday, but I already had a Wednesday post, and it's tidier this way. That makes me sound compulsive or something, but I don't think I am...

There's a spyware addy that pops up every time I open this site, so reading blogs leads me to a greater appreciation of my Spy Sweeper. The Internet is like shooting the rapids--exciting as long as you stay between the rocks.

Beyond that, Internet involvement in general taught me that there are a great variety of people in the world. I found a committed group of friends out in the cyberwilds. I just sent a note to my friend in Falmouth, UK, who's always been able to match me foot for foot in the ability to send long, philosophical e-mails full of self-examination and other observations of the rocks on each side of the path ahead. We've taught each other a lot over the last several years.

I agree...great list! Now it seems when things happen, good or bad I am able to better process them and turn them into blog posts!

I've been blogging since June. I still haven't figured out how to do some of the really cool stuff I see on other blogs.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting BrainFreeze.
I just found that picture too funny not to post. I'll probably delete it in a few days. It's not really my normal style.
Happy TT

Hey! Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks for the comment. I do not know if this is the appropriate place to respond to your question but here goes! Our son Fletcher is on a ventilator and requires oxygen (02) in order to stay alive. When he 'desats' which is short for desaturation, his oxygen level drops and we have to resucitate him by bagging him. That brings his oxygen level back to normal and he's usually fine. Although not to be taken lightly, because as I'm sure you realize if he were to crash and go without oxygen he would die. So, needless to say I have become quite a pro at bagging him! UGH! I hope this helps! I enjoyed looking at your blog.
Be blessed ~

This is such an awesome list!

Actually, I constantly think about why I choose to blog. It's not easy for me...I have a full time job and many things going on in my life, so it almost becomes another job to me at times. However, I think that I like blogging because it is fun! I always kept a journal when I was younger, and I enjoy looking back on it. One day, I will have my blog printed so that when I'm old and senile and my memory starts to fail, I'll have something to look back on!
